Flyer headed "SUPPORT, SOLIDARITY & STAYING SAFE"
We refuse attempts to divide communities through fear, scapegoating,
& lies. If xenophobic groups are gathering near you, here are precautions you could take:
« Avoid confrontations with large groups.
« Check in on neighbours, friends, & local shopkeepers who may feel vulnerable.
« Stay aware of gathering points & avoid march routes.
« Rather travel in groups than go anywhere alone during the march.
« Paranoia is dangerous: Do not spread rumours or unverified WhatsApp messages - rather spread solidarity & support.
« If tensions rise, leave the area early rather & alert SAPS immediately
« Keep phones charged & emergency contacts available.
« If safe to do so, record incidents & report to the police & other organisations afterwards (see contact details below). Work together with friends & community.
Solidarity keeps people safer than panic or isolation.
