@idzie owning a truck in the city sucks and a dualie with no purpose is stupid but out here.. some people need to haul shit and unless state highways become friendly to oxen and a cart we stuck y'all

@rancholibertad this is in an exurban area, in a mostly flat, only slightly hilly region, and I can almost guarantee there's no purpose for this vehicle in particular. I don't know if it's visible in the photo, but the suspension is also raised above what's typical for the already ridiculously high modern trucks (I have very different feelings about older, lower, more reasonable pickup trucks with longer more practical beds). If I was in front of that truck, there's no way the driver could see me, and I'm very much average height for a woman, not particularly short. 😭
@idzie totally hear all of this! Possibly misread/misinterpreted/took to heart the replies *and* the post as one. Most folks out here who drive pickups need them to haul their water in IBC totes and ditto for lots of other (very Mex&Indig including most of the rez's) regions of the Southwest & Northern Mexico, so I think somehow my misinterpretation of the post as being more along the lines of "pickup trucks are bad" let me take this personally because most of the people we know who have them need them either for work or survival.

@rancholibertad I get you! And some of the car takes on here have me grimacing for sure, they seem extremely western European and/or like people who've never left the city in their life, and I certainly don't want to contribute to that. I was very much reacting to this vehicle existing in my own context, with the modifications that have been made to it. I do deeply hate the current style/size of trucks, they are needlessly dangerous, but I understand that that isn't something individuals have much control over, and that they are still used as actual utility vehicles!
