Freshwater and Saltwater fish have no preference for salinity outside of buoyancy.
If you put a salt water fish in fresh water it will sink to the bottom and struggle to move upward while freshwater fish in saltwater will struggle to leave the water's surface.

It's not air friction that makes the space capsule hot when re-entering the atmosphere.
It's the pressure wave building up in front of the capsule, compressing the air, until it behaves like plasma.
They also prefer a blunt tip instead of a sharp one. This will keep most of that plasma in front, instead of heating up the entire capsule.
