@neil Fully agree with you. I made the choice to bridge IRC, Signal and Meta (!) to my Matrix server so that even if others have their personal favorites at least I only have to use one single client ...

@neil Not that "yet another one" is the solution, but for an Organization I am part of, zulip works pretty well. Especially for sorting by topic and branching out discusisons. Search generally is a problem that applies here too.

Same. I find with the right approach, you can stay more organized and manage the signal:noise ratio of email much better than with synchronous comms.

If someone does want a synchronous chat, I dont mind things like Matrix, etc. But it shouldn't the Default medium, and information / decisions still need to find their way back into some sort of "durable" shared repository.

We have monthly general meetings. There is rarely time for sufficient discussion of all relevant issues.

I (personally) am not up for more meetings as a whole group.

But nor do I like the idea of not being able to participate in general meetings, because they are happening when I cannot attend.

Personally, I would welcome more engagement outside meetings (async or sync) to get the Actual Work done.

So perhaps more focussed sub-groups, with their own channels and meeting schedules, which can then feed into the general meetings (without needing to repeat all the sub-group discussions).
