you ever think about object capabilities
@aeva capabilities in the CHERI sense?
(i.e. smarter pointers that the hardware knows about)
@hipsterelectron @aeva i think so?
(i haven't had access to any actual hardware yet but i want to)
@JamesWidman @aeva that's what makes me sad about hardware ugh
@hipsterelectron
its darpaware but very cool
@JamesWidman @aeva
@aeva i still don't fully get what people mean when they call it objects. i guess giving a name to things is exciting to them
@hipsterelectron
well i think its because there were systems where keys were different to normal resources (cambridge CAP?), but since KeyKOS i think they're one and the same. hence its object capabilities. capabilities encoded in the object graph/system directly.
@aeva
@aeva i think everything should have a name
@hipsterelectron i like naming things :D
objects are capable of many things
@aeva moreover, some objects *are* things!
