Amid other nonsense..https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cy82pxlmmyno what are people in these trial areas supposed to tell their employer when they are not fit to work? I just had an operation and was signed off for 2 weeks to recover (if I had a manual handling job it would have been 4 weeks) - my employer requires a fit note as proof for absences longer than 7 days, so if the doctor had not issued a fit note, I would have had to try go back to work (which I was not fit to do) or face disciplinary action/get sacked?

@1a1nC I've heard of some doctors writing fit notes on the theme of "due to your policy of requiring fit notes, (employee name) had to drag themselves out of bed, come to my practice, expose a waiting room full of patients to an infectious virus, take a time slot from a patient I could have meaningfully treated, so I could confirm that they are indeed sick and should be at home in bed, not in my clinic and definitely not at work. Your invoice for this clinic visit is $80."
