Hello! This is a research survey for an MSc in Software Engineering. The working title of the dissertation is "Analysing the effect of software development practices on developer wellbeing, productivity, and turnover". The survey is intended for developers to share their thoughts on Agile methodologies, and how it subjectively affects health, wellbeing, and productivity. In accordance with general data protection regulations and best practices, the below outlines the research more fully for the purposes of informed consent - but when you're ready to proceed, hit the continue button to start. ------------- Study Title Agile Methodologies in Software Development: Effects on Developer Wellbeing and Productivity Invitation to Participate You are invited to participate in a research study about how Agile Methodologies and Agile-style working practices in software development may affect developer wellbeing and productivity. Why have I been invited? You have been invited because you are involved in software development, engineering, or a closely related role. What will I be asked to do? The research is primarily survey based via an online questionnaire. The survey should take no longer than 30 minutes to complete. Do I have to take part? No. Participation is entirely voluntary. You may stop at any point before submitting your responses. You may also choose to skip any optional questions. Are there any risks to taking part? Some questions ask about stress, wellbeing, and work-life balance. These may be considered sensitive topics. What are the possible benefits? There is no direct personal benefit to participants; but your responses may help improve understanding of how the software development industry can best support its practitioners. How will my data be used? Your responses will be used for a Masters' research project. Responses will be kept confidential. Data will be used only for research purposes. Full responses will be deleted on or by 1st December 2027. Aggregate data may be included in the final paper. Can I withdraw after taking part? You may withdraw at any time before submitting the form by closing the survey. After submission, it may not be possible to withdraw your data if responses are anonymous, or have already been anonymised and combined for analysis. Who can I contact for more information?
