@pluralistic Pizza hut forced this new pizza delivery software system on its franchises to improve efficiency. it allowed doordash drivers to see when pizzas would exit the oven so they could time deliveries better. Of course the drivers used this knowledge to wait for more pizzas so they could batch the deliveries and likely make more money with less driving. This resulted in slower deliveries of cold pizza and this franchise owner claims $100 million in damages

@rickoooooo @pluralistic reading it, it's actually about the franchise owner being upset he can't mess the doordash drivers around and using this as an excuse, near nothing to do with AI

@davidgerard @pluralistic yes the "AI" in the headline initially caught my eye but if you read the whole article it really doesn't seem to have anything to do with AI. The drivers were given more information ostensibly to make faster deliveries, but instead they used it to make their own lives easier because of course they would. I would have done the same. They optimized for their own efficiency
