I agree. I think Burnham is the best of the likely winners of the forthcoming Labour leadership election, and by a long way most likely to be receptive to a deal (or deals) with the Green Party.
It's also noticeable that the (not unjustified) left criticism of Burnham tends to be silent about which likely winners of the Labour leadership they would prefer. Streeting ? - on the grounds that he would further speed Labour decline ? But wouldn't this make ReformUK more, rather than less electable ?
In response to the second part of your post, I almost don't care who Labour elect as leader, because at this point it seems inevitable that Labour will continue to be an economically-liberal party, and there's no way that they'll drop the ball again like they did with Corbyn.
It's also worth mentioning that Burnham ran away from the PLP when Corbyn was elected leader, which casts some serious doubt on the claims that he'd move Labour back to the left.
I think everyone on the left would like some level of cooperation between Labour and the Greens, and Burnham is most certainly less odious than Streeting (but then who isn't?).
The main problem with the Greens co-operating with Labour is that much of the PLP isn't left-wing in any meaningful terms, and will inevitably adopt a Macron-style approach that demands compromise from the GPEW.
The Greens should fight for the seat and if Burnham loses then tough.
Yes, I agree some sort of Left-leaning alliance for the next election is likely the best bet for beating ReformUK.... but whether Labour would be willing to enter into such an arrangement other than after losing an election is another matter.... they still seem to think they can win under FPTP without adopting an alliance. Which as we can guess will split the left vote (which absolutely is not the Green's issue; its Labour's)
