I thought about you when I heard about this, we had our budget here in Australia last week and it included this (we are meant to embrace AI at work so I got it to get the quote and do the referencing)

“Under the United Nations Convention on International Liability for Damage Caused by Space Objects, the Government may be liable to pay compensation for damage caused on the surface of the earth or to aircraft in flight by space objects. The Government may also be liable for damage caused elsewhere than on the surface of the earth if the damage is due to its fault or the fault of persons for whom it is responsible” (Australian Government, 2026, p. 302).
