But he does over 150 orbital launches a year making him the biggest launch provider on the planet.
Even if naziship explodes, SpaceX is still going to sell out.
@mastodonmigration 😂 Staking everything on a craft that burns up re-entering at 12,000mph (FAR slower than an orbital reentry), and more often than not lands smack dead center of the smoking crater. Yeah, that's a good plan.

They are deliberately minimizing the difficulty of this mission as much as possible so as to be able to claim a success. The flight will only be 65 minutes, assuming all goes well. It will not complete an orbit. It is just attempting to do what previous launches have done, albeit with a significantly redesigned spaceship.
Still 33 brand new Raptor 3 engines creates an awful lot of opportunity for something to go wrong.
Yeah, every time they put something up in the air for as long as that really lasts they seem to have a completely new engine design. Generally, that means he would have to go through all the baby steps again.
@mastodonmigration Of course won't be a complete orbit; the thing is orders of magnitude away from actually ever being capable of that. The entire project has been a boondoggle.
This is just theater for the gullible dopes that still think Elon is cool. Amazing.
@W6KME @mastodonmigration That is the big point there. It pretends to be further in progress, than it really is. There are some necessary improvements to overcome the past problems, but these solutions can cause new issues in flight.
Still, it is not THAT far away from orbit. At SECO, it was roughly 200 km PeR short the last time, and 150 km after engine relight. Thats only ~60 m/s short from first cosmic velocity on SECO and 40 m/s short after engine relight.
