@cstross Dumb rando's nitpicking opinion, but while 1776-2026 makes for a nice round number, there's nothing in that scenario that makes 2026 special, so personally I'd say 1776 to December 12, 2000.

Not in any useful quantity, but "AI" doesn't produce any useful quantity of anything except financial grift, so that's no barrier to NVIDIAI deciding to drop a few trillion on Helium Breeders.
