I keep seeing videos and articles with titles like "noone wants to work anymore". That's not true. We never wanted to work, we do it cos we need to to survive in this fucked up capitalist system we unfortunately live in.

@quixoticgeek i would disagree. People do want to work. They want to be useful. We want to contribute. We want to be seen and heard. What we don't want is to be abused.
When someone is telling you that "noone wants to work" the truth is "noone wants to be abused" and "noone wants to be a slave" (only exception: kinky people)
@Albi people want to be productive. Theres a key difference.
@quixoticgeek being productive includes doing work. There is a difference, I just wouldn't say it is a key difference.
@quixoticgeek I'm genuinely curious, how would you propose the world should work?
@quixoticgeek People are happy doing fulfilling duties to feed and nurture the community, but no one wants to do the soulless, pointless jobs of contemporary society.
@quixoticgeek The Work Ethic Propaganda Machine has Stopped Being Effective
@WizardOfDocs @quixoticgeek You can motivate a donkey to walk by dangling a carrot on a string in front of its nose, but if you're too cheap to use a carrot the string won't work any more. The carrot, however, is seen by the capitalist as foregone profit …
@cstross @WizardOfDocs @quixoticgeek
No one wants to work in worse working conditions than their parents or grandparents (or great grandparents)
As we head into 1800s level Apartheid-inspiring racist restructuring and economic breakdown that compares to the Gilded Age, yeah people are “uncertain”
@AccordionBruce @cstross @quixoticgeek I do want to know whether AI was the breaking point, or the layoffs or what
because all evidence points to People Aren't Getting Less Gullible
