ISP technician this morning telling me about how humans have invented a new god with AI. That we as people have exceeded our programming.
You know, while he was recapping coax cables.
I somehow forgot to mention that he told me that the AI will poison the water to kill us. That it needs non-salt water for cooling, but it doesn't care what other contaminants are in it.
@rmondello *extremely deep sigh*
@rmondello I mean, he’s not entirely wrong. It’s just that we’re the ones doing the poisoning it with heat and pumping it back into the environment.
@rmondello might have been drinking the coax juice a bit too long
@rmondello
Humans will make a god out of darn well anything. That part seems one of the last remarkable things about AI.
@rmondello was this said in a tongue-in-cheek way talking about how much influence people allow “AI” to have over their life, or in a power-trip “we’ve reached a new pinnacle of humanity” sort of way? Unfortunately, I’m guessing the latter.
@rmondello I’m starting to think that these people who should know better — Dude, your so-called “god” can’t even function without you fixing those cables — have just been looking for an off-ramp from critical thinking all their lives, and now have one.
@rmondello when my internet got installed back in October *my* cable guy was blasting the Kpop Demon Hunters soundtrack and tried to convince me it is the only movie I ever need to see 😆 wtf cable guys
