It's a lightly overcast day in the city and earlier there was rain but it feels warm now and a little humid. We're walking through a car park and we've stopped to look at how a small tree is framed against a backdrop of a brick wall. The concrete ground in front of us has a shallow puddle of water and we're looking at parking bays marked out in white paint on it. Pavement behind that is tiled with small square stones until it reaches the wall of orange bricks that rises to fill the rest of the view. On the pavement behind the empty parking bays a tree has been planted. It has mottled grey bark and leans ever so slightly to the left with a trunk around the diameter of an adult's head. There are no branches from it until it reaches the explosion of green foliage; lightly coloured leaves similar to a dense evergreen. It contrasts nicely with the orange wall behind. Part of the tree's trunk is reflected in the surface of the puddle nearer us.
