@randahl
I used to visit the States quite often, going down every weekend during the summers, even thought I might consider retirement there.
But that was then, this is now...
Fast-forward to today, I've decided I'm never going back. The US will never again have a share of my tourist dollars.
@randahl there are reasons that profiles are private, domestic violence, separation of groups of friends etc. It looks like a lot of people will just avoid travel to places where they demand that you void all your privacy and let it all hang out, damm the personal consequences.
You know what would be really great for their dying tourism industry and to lure the great minds of science there for research....
oh, wait ... nevermind.
Boss, boss, I can’t read the profile. It’s private.
Then hack it!
Boss, boss, you’ve kept me in the dark throughout my 20 years of service by not investing in staff.
Then ring the CIA! They’ll know how!
Boss, boss, they’re too busy with that other idiot in Washington.
Wait, then I’ll enforce it to make profiles public!
Boss, boss, there’s nobody left in front of the gate.
Elon would be only too happy to announce your dismissal!
Boss, boss, But...
@randahl
Haha, vermutlich trifft das auch Leute ohne Social Media oder wie wollen die das unterscheiden?
Gotta be kidding...
@randahl
is this also for the ESTA?
It says : "applicants for F, M, and J nonimmigrant visas"

@randahl Who would want to go to Trumpistan in this era???
@randahl gosh, I bet a load of young women — I’m thinking of my sons’ ballet colleagues — will be delighted to open their accounts to every passing pervert they’ve been hiding them from.
@randahl They can only deny entry to those who seek entry 🤔😉
@randahl
The Olympics and the World Cup, which are normally money printing machines, are now going to be loss making.
@randahl can you imagine pur country is going to share our means of logging in to government sites with an American company soon? A company that is required by American law to share our most personal details with the government there!
@randahl Non ho mai avuto nessun desiderio di andarci, soprattutto adesso.
@randahl
From what I see on the EFF site about this, it seems to apply primarily to students?
"The State Department recently announced an unprecedented new requirement that applicants for student and exchange visas must set all social media accounts to “public”

@randahl and if you do have a public profile, particularly if you post on the #Fediverse, they are likely to deny you entry anyway once they find out how much you detest Trump and his billionaire friends and are not afraid to say so.
@randahl and have been for almost a Year. But who wnats to come to the US?
@randahl They really don't want anyone to visit the worldcup, right? 😂
(And yes, I'm perfectly aware that the problem is waaaay bigger.)
@randahl i always wonder what happens if you just don’t have one, or at least not have one that anyone can find
@randahl It‘s getting even more ridiculous day by day. Unbelievable.
@randahl
I taught my kid to keep a public, "real name" profile on the big social media services, and also a pseudonym account when they want to talk about more politically "problematic" things. I emphasized this again when they began doing... "organizing." And they immediately said, "Of course, we all have Signal accounts, and I delete Signal when crossing the border." (Like most Canadians, we live near the US border)
@randahl
Fucking Nazi assrimmers.
Trump and Co..scared of criticism.
@randahl "but if you have nothing to hide, you have nothing to fear?"
Everybody's got something to hide.
@randahl It's not as if anything you might post on social media in your private life would make you guilty in any way.
@randahl "I don't HAVE an instagram account."
"Sure you don't sir. This way, please."
so, any of his cabinet who has a private profile on social media can be arrested or kicked off his job? Interesting. RELEASE ALL OF THE FILES & LET THE CHIPS FALL WHERE THEY MAY.
