So today, something very exciting happened: I saw a black-backed woodpecker!! One just landed in a tree right beside me for a moment!! I've wanted to see one for so long, that made me really happy. What a cool creature.

They're a boreal species so I'm not really in their range, but a handful a year show up in my region. And I saw one of them!!
