Nice password manager you got there.
A shame if someone refactored its multimillion line (eh? For a password manager?) codebase with AI then boasted about it online!

@neil annoyingly while 1Password is slopping up their codebase of an actual decent product, Bitwarden has been bought by big money and things may very well not go well for them either https://blog.ppb1701.com/the-quiet-renovation-at-bitwarden (or https://www.fastcompany.com/91542655/bitwarden-scrubs-always-free-and-inclusion-values-from-its-website-as-longtime-execs-step-down)
Makes it even harder to find a not-shit password manager

Apparently the removal of the "Always Free" line was a mistake by their marketing team doesn't change the rest of the changes being seen recently.

@neil I read the article and - at the risk of getting myself ostracised here - it didn’t seem too bad… Like if a company is going to use AI to help manage their codebase (and whether we like it or not, they all will), this seemed a pretty responsible, proportionate way of doing so. With some sensible lessons drawn and openly shared. It’s not “I fed my code to Claude and pulled the YOLO lever”.
@neil Very disappointed. I've been using 1pass since soon after they started. Not sure how I would replace it.
@neil after seeing the whole AI thing it's time to move away just need a nice way to migrate family away to whatever we go with. Bitwarden is going through interesting times and self hosting vaultwarden doesn't feel like something I want to do at the moment. Why can't we have nice things?
@neil What's the context? Totally out of the loop.
@neil damn... 1password I guess. It cost me over 6 months to get my wife on a password manager (that's 3 years ago). Getting her to switch to Keepassxc will be like going through hell.
@neil
Everything in there sounds wrong and at the same time sounds bad.
