No, but I mean it is kinda surreal listening to you folks JUST a bit younger than me cooing about the Power Rangers or the Star Wars Prequels - I'm of precisely the right age that all of that was "lame" because I wasn't the target audience at the time.
Cool to me is like Gambit and Edward Scissorhands. It's just not QUITE the same cultural moment, but familiar enough that all the stuff you loved I used to plunk my baby brother down in front of a TV to watch.

@Nickiquote I think if you understand them as kid's adventure movies, it becomes much easier to grasp why people younger than us who saw them at like 10 years old, loved them at the time and still have warm feelings for them. I don't hate Jedi despite the muppets, because I was probably like 6 years old when it came out and Mom took me to watch it at the theatre. But people JUST A BIT older than me LOATHE it. Same process at work I think.

@AnarchoNinaWrites I can see that. You’d think we’d learn from it and leave children’s media to children and stop getting annoyed about it and/or making it our whole personality, but no.
@Nickiquote @AnarchoNinaWrites I think calling them childish underestimates their broad entertainment value, but absolutely on people attaching their personality to a mythos that is just fun is where it becomes a problem.
aaleo, a lit of people are just sexist about the last
trilogy. Rey is a great character and no more “mary sue” than Luke.
