Can be quite bad when web forms don't result in any email confirmation.

I was just filling in a web form for my son's school application process. *Extremely important*. For some reason it comes with plenty of forewarning, that they're *not* going to send an email, but promises a "pop up" confirmation.

Made me anxious. I even swapped over from firefox to chrome just in case this "pop up" involved janky javascript.
It's ok. I have seen the pop up. They definitely have our application... right? 😬

The text says: "Once you submit your form you will see an immediate ‘pop up’ on the screen to confirm your submission. We will not send a confirmation email. If you believe you have submitted an application for your child to sit the test but have not received the pop up you must contact the Academy before registration closes. Once the registration process has closed, and you have not registered for your child to sit the test we will not be able to accommodate any further requests"

...and then on the application form it had a part at the bottom saying: "I have read the above statement and understand I not receive a confirmation email." [tickbox] — Two screenshots. @harry_wood the problem is, sending a confirmation is hard at volume. Will land in user‘s spam, or their ISP blocks it, or their mailbox is full and it bounces, or they have a typo in their email, etc, etc, etc all of which means increased support burden (ie cost)

@freyfogle Yeah. It's annoying the way emails have become a difficult thing to do. Gone are the days of doing a cheeky php "mail" call.
