It is funny. When I had 500 chars at my disposal I became really skilled in chiseling texts to condense it to be within limit while not losing what I wanted to convey. Now I have 1,500 chars, which I always longed for, aaand... I am still chiseling regularly to condense the message to fit the 1,500 chars. The charlimit extension only gave me 3x the work. 😅

Unfortunately too is that this fedi microbloggoverse works best for casual throw-away chatter, and that any substantive discussions that take place only have the 2 seconds of relevance when they pass someone's timeline and they happen to look. To be lost forever after in timeline history, and post-removal linkrot.
I think that is a serious shortcoming of the fediverse. Forum integration is ongoing, but it happens in a weird mix with microblogging.
