The new kind of telephone with buttons instead of a dial.
@ZachWeinersmith various albums from the noughties, and a supermarket that opened in 2009 (I worked in the one it replaced, so I always specify that I worked in the 'old' one but not the 'new' one).
@ZachWeinersmith I was going to say smartphones but people are making good points about touchtone, so thinking a bit harder: 3-and-a-quarter inch floppy disks.

@ZachWeinersmith Any Metallica album after 1991's Black Album is "New" Metallica.
@ZachWeinersmith I still consider the "tyrosine kinase inhibitor" class of anticancer drugs new, even though Gleevec (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Imatinib) first came out in 2001. They were definitely a marked improvement from the more toxic classical chemotherapy drugs.
On the lighter side... I consider USB drives, SSD hard disks, Taylor Swift, and Ed Sheeran new, too. :)
@ZachWeinersmith The trick here is *still* thinking of something as new... For me it might be the plastic screw tops on milk cartons and the like - I remember when you just tore open the top and made a raggedy-ass spout.
Probably the Euro, the new currency.
Although we're probably about the point at which I've been handling Euros for as long as I had Francs, Deutschmarks, Lira, Pesetas and Gulden before its introduction.

Nobody sells boxed computer software anymore, but those boxes that are sized like a thick DVD case (roughly 15x20x3cm) are “the small ones” compared to the old boxes (roughly 21x25x5cm)
@ZachWeinersmith although invented before I was born, I still think of ram-air parafoil parachutes as the new kind, as opposed to old round parachutes.
