To each, their own, but personally, I just don't understand podcasts.
Post
@neil like a TV talk show or talk radio, it's a nice thing to listen to on a walk or whatever and have some (hopefully) interesting people chat about something interesting.
It doesn't compare to a blog or article since it's more an extemporaneous discussion than refined thoughts
@neil i find it hard to believe that you're too young for radio?
@neil I didn't for a long time either. But then I got some running headphones. The Rest Is Podcasts work for me for dog walks and runs, and the family enjoy No Such Thing As A Fish for longer car journeys.
When your eyes are busy but your brain isn't, that's when podcasts work. If you don't have moments like that in your routine then I get why you don't get them.
@neil did you understand radio?
Audio dramas, yes.
Comedy shows (ISIHAC, ISIRTA, The Goon Show), yes.
Music radio, yes.
Talk radio, of people just chatting, no.
@neil what do you listen to in the car then?
@freshstart I drive so little that it is not something I really consider.
My 10 minute, once a week trip to Airsoft? Nothing.
@neil I listen to several, usually while driving or running. Range from comedy, science to a DnD podcas. If you want any reccomendation just ask.
@neil As a longtime podcast listener and creator, I have to say sitting around just listening to the sounds of the world is extremely underrated.
(I also distinctly remember that feeling of nit really getting the thing with podcasts before I became a regular listener. Still can’t put my finger on what changed inbetween.)
@neil Have you tried listening to those in a language you proficient with?
