Pain remains pretty unrelenting. When it was more bearable this morning, I went out in the rain, and saw a very ragged red-shouldered hawk (missing a bunch of tail feathers, poor thing), and a wonderful flock of warblers around the pond/vernal pool! Including the first northern parula I've encountered this year, heard not seen. I think I can keep that song in my head, they go zeeeeeeUP!

@idzie it's such a strange sensation when the bright and flying sight of birds swirls through that drone of pain. I am quietly delighted by your bird spotting.
@alexhaist yes, yes it is, just like that. And I'm glad to hear it 💚
I also recognized the chestnut-sided warbler's song without prompting, they go "pleased pleased pleased to meetcha!"
I'm re-remembering some songs, too. Like I recognized Baltimore orioles last year, forgot what they sounded like over the winter, but now that they're back and I've heard them a couple of times, I can recognize them pretty much right away again.
