@TomGrant91 @matt I got extra time and someone scribing but it was still stressful, although in 2024 when I went to college they made me redo Maths because I didn't have Grade 4, still ended up failing it, and one of the papers wasn't even properly adapted so I was like I am not putting myself through the stress of trying to do a non adapted paper, hell no! The education system is so 1980s/1990s or 2000s, it needs to be changed for the modern era.

@alexchapman @TomGrant91 @matt More like 1800s/1900s. School has never been about the student, it has always been about pounds in pockets and reputational credit scores. Schools/colleges push exams on you like some kind of propaganda film because students who succeed and pass tests move the school higher up the league tables and thus the school looks better in inspector reports, and when the school looks better on inspector reports, they're more likely to receive more money from the government. I know, exam propaganda was one of the things that caused my mental health crisis that made me want to close my life account in 2013. Failure is not an option. Your future is on the line ETC. When it came to picking my options, one of my learning support assistants basically tried to powerfuck the school into making me take religious education simply on account of my good debating skills. Spoiler alert, I got a D in my final RE exam so that kinda backfired on them lol. Oh and there was also the time I was forced into taking triple science when I'd only picked double, meaning 3 biology papers, 3 chemistry papers and 3 physics papers, making 9 in total, when I'd only chosen to do 2 of each or 6 in total. This had the side effect of me getting a C in science because I was being made to do papers I hadn't even studied for beforehand. Oh and let's not forget English, where year 11 students were made to stay behind and do an extra 1 or 2 hours of revision, sometimes even 3 hours, resulting in 8 or 9 hour days in total. Is it any wonder calls to Child Line and other services go sky high during exam season? My thesis? School sucks and their only attitude is fuck the students.
@seedy60 @TomGrant91 @matt Holy, fucking shit, yeah I've never really liked school, and I was glad when I finished college, I've not looked back.
