Being a trans kid means watching the world's bigotry and hypocrisy unfold before you for years on end, and there is nothing you can do about it except try to preserve yourself as best you can because society makes clear these things are acceptable where you are not.
Transitioning in your teens and early twenties, without any social, family, or financial support, before you have a career or any resources, just burns into you the realization that cis society and government cannot be trusted.
