I am working really hard on something Spritely related in Blender and I'm doing a bunch of hand drawn artwork and animation and like, sometimes I wonder, do people care anymore? Is it really so impressive to do animation when people can just pump out a slop animation like it's nothing? It's so much work to do this kind of thing
But I know I like it and I care when I see artwork where people have put in time and effort
I hope people will feel the same
@cwebber yes, I care!!! It is a pure delight to see handdrawn, careful art and animation 💜
@cwebber I think it is more healthy to not mix making art to impress yourself and making art to impress others. Getting both is the dream, but rarely the case, unfortunately.

I happily consume information at scale using the horrors of generic fonts shat out by computers via predictive text and spell checks....but still very much appreciate calligraphy, the scribal traditions and a little human touch.
Seems like Guttenberg all over again: the death of art drowned by a deluge of generic mechanical drivel...but art and creativity persist even with the tech devilry of 15th century German being taken up at massive scale.
It's also weird and goofy and sometimes releasing artwork I feel really vulnerable about it, people make fun of you sometimes, and it is goofy, it *is* goofy and kind of leans into the cute character'y stuff that we have done at @spritely historically.
When you put in the work, it's easy to worry about all the ways people will dismiss it. But that's still the kind of stuff that matters to me, even if I feel vulnerable about releasing my art every time I do it
