I’m learning to sew by making patchwork curtains out of old bedlinen. It’s a reminder of how difficult and frustrating any learning can be. But just doing it over and over eventually builds your understanding of how stuff gets made. The mechanics of thread turning into seam turning into sewn thing. It’s magical. Also so much swearing.

i taught myself to sew about 15 years ago... since then have made tens, maybe hundreds of beloved things.. it is such a useful, great skill to pick up IMO .. best wishes
