Announcing a Community Call with Kollicloud and CooperativeCloud.tech

While many people think their only option is to depend on BigTech for collaborative workspaces and communication tooling, there are in fact many alternatives.

Apps for filesharing, calendering, contacts and for email. Or apps to work in agile mode, to run your projects with powerful Kanban boards for decentralised teams. Instant messaging and chat that are decentralised, so people can connect with one app to all their diverse organisations and communities they belong to.

Tech based in solidarity, commoning, security and privacy, instead of extractivism, monopolies, distopian futures, injustice and surveillance.

Ten years ago
- when we initiated CommonsCloud.coop with @femProcomuns - it was still a challenge to mix the appropriate tooling to match the diverse needs of a specific community. Since then a lot of things have changed and new cooperative commons have emerged.

One is the @coopcloud federation where dozens of hosters and cooperative communities are working together to make operating your cloud easy and efficient. And within and together with that community there is the Kollicloud project.

Initiated by Lokal-IT, the Kollicloud is a CoopCloud orchestrator for communities willing to have their own cloud precisely as they wish, nicely accessible with a single account and through an integrated dashboard.

They also offer Kollicloud as a SaaS for collectives that want to pay the server and maintenance costs to them, instead of hosting themselves.

Their founder, Moritz, explained that recently they had to upgrade 233 applications, and with their automated scripts this was done in just one day.

On Thursday 21st of May at 14h CEST we’ll be hosting a Community Call with them. Anyone interested in the topic is more than welcome to join us.

Together we explore the most appropriate tech. Our Tech, i.e. tech that we can own, instead of Their Tech owning us. But it is not just about tech, also about cooperative ways of organising the economy, the governance and having a good life. It is about solidarity, resilience, autonomy and ultimately sovereignty.
