Reading @adapalmer on hopepunk and struck by the very uncomfortable feeling that libre software and open culture’s current struggles trace in part to a past luxury: we opted into purity culture and out of the messiness of compromise.

@luis_in_brief ooh, interesting. I wonder if i can get a copy of that... I think there's something in purity culture here, but also perhaps something broader about past luxury which also meant things were easy, and did not build toughness/resilience...
