I mean to be clear, and I am not disparaging a UK Green party I barely know, they might be different - but my problem with the Green Party, across the entire Pig Empire is that when they're distant from power they fucking talk like Che, but whenever they form a government, or even just get to be PART of a coalition government - they're unhinged conservative austerity mongers. Like EVERY time.
I feel like it can't be an accident that this keeps happening.
I feel like there's an element of "neither left nor right, but Green" to the party - particularly wings of the party that have been around since the 1990's and well Imma be honest, I've learned to never trust anyone pitching "neither left nor right" at this point.
It doesn't have to be that way - but until I start seeing Green pols in action who aren't that way, it's a hard fear to shake. I'm just not a big Green Party supporter - not many sane Americans are.
@AnarchoNinaWrites valid. it's not just the greens. i've noticed a lot of UK parties go left when they can't win then tack right again: lib dems; Labour under Foot, yes I'm old.
at this point, though, i'm voting green not out of any feeling that it would be different for them — who knows? — but to say "yes please these policies"…
@fishidwardrobe Yeah, that makes sense. Rather take a bet on the guys who haven't failed you, than the ones you know will because it's all they've ever done. Particularly when the up and comer has a platform SIGNIFICANTLY left of the old guard.
