@david Only if said lightning had a path to the ground. Which if it's strong enough and there are no other metal objects that are taller, would be a yes.
Said lightning would most likely burn off the gold leaf, leaving an ugly bronze statue in its place. And given how frequent thunderstorms are in Florida...
