AI is only slop with idiots who don't know how to make a good prompt are the ones releasing half baked slop into the wild. So this post is false information. The only true thing is that CI/CD has been used for years.
@alexchapman that's a "no true Scotsman" – and not only that, but I did not even say that everything that is generated is slop.
I said that AI slop makes things worse, so even with your narrow no-true-Scotsman definition of AI slop, this holds.
Interesting that you felt you need to push back like this.
I would invite you to read the piece that was linked there, there is so much more there that might be relevant, you know.
@rysiek Well it seems there's far too much anti-AI sentiment going around and all it does is make the people who are genuinely doing good things with AI feel bad. I've come across it on here, on Reddit, practically everywhere, some people even take it as far that they end up sounding like some sort of anti-AI extremist, and I just think it needs to calm down because at the end of the day, there are people that know what they're doing and they shouldn't be made to feel bad because what they're doing involves AI.
@alexchapman the push-back will calm down once the hype dies down.
People who do good things with these tools should be very interested in helping the hype die down, for many reasons related to more than just "feeling bad". The hype distracts from any good work done.
And the costs of the overhyped "AI" stuff are very real, as you know.
If somebody is doing something genuinely good and ethical with machine learning, they have the same interests as people critical of the AI hype like myself.
@rysiek Yeah, like how some people quickly found out Claude Opus 4.7 isn't as good as what 4.6 is, and despite some of the stuff that's come out about OpenAI and its founder over the years, GPT 5.5 Codex has outpased Claude's latest model.
