Cry me a champagne tower, billionaires.

This is the “bitching while the lawyers find the loophole” phase of plutocratic #enshittification
When the furor cools, you’ll know they’re getting away with it.
BTW why pay lawyers instead of the tax? The tax is cheaper in the long run.
Parasites complain that the organism is asserting its sovereignty.
@jeffjarvis - Tax the "F" out of the Billionaire Freeloaders.
Six months ago #oligarchs were bellowing their intent to up-sticks from #NYC and get as far away as possible from the #MetGala should #Mamdami get elected. I’m sure some will leave in a snit, but I’m yet to see any reportage that aligns with last year’s #billionaire bluster
For those that choose to stay and don’t want to pay taxes on their luxe apartments, selling is always an option. Proceeds can be rolled into hotel stays instead. This is not complex
@jeffjarvis Entitled, inflated sense of importance in a world filled with suffering. Obviously, Mamdani is on the right track!
@jeffjarvis The more wealth some have the more fiercely they will fight to keep every last dime.
Not realising that this is a toxic way to live.
No, it is called solidarity, something the billionaire class lacks.
Hey, billionaires: are you sick of being vilified?
How about stopping being vile?
How about ceasing supporting the vilest politicians and policies? Huh? Too hard?
@jeffjarvis shameful? Jeez there are people who can’t afford one home, that’s shameful
@jeffjarvis It is fantastic to see the elite crying.
@jeffjarvis fuck the billionaires. Let them leave. Fucking freeloading human shitstains. Pay your fair share or fuck off. Jog on you privileged arseholes.
@jeffjarvis call their bluff.....let 'em leave.
It should be noted that this could've been avoided if the state governor, Kathy Hochul, was willing to increase the corporate tax rate by a measly 2%.
Mamdani and his team are determined to find the funding for his projects and to balance the insane city budget deficit that the previous mayor created. Whether the governor is fiscally and morally responsible enough to help with that or not is on her.
@jeffjarvis If they can't afford it, they can move to one of their other houses in a different state. When they say they will move elsewhere, they just mean to one of their other houses.
