Almost every car that appears in the Shinjuku CamBot I just boosted (can't quote) is an app-hailable taxi
Post
@WataruTenkawa_1 Is this live? There are almost no cars at all (and yes, lots of cabs). Is this normal for Tokyo?
@David It seems to have been recorded earlier today. It's not normal for Tokyo as a whole, but this is Shinjuku and it's a Sunday morning.
@WataruTenkawa_1 Why is it normal for Shinjuku? (sorry, I'm truly ignorant of the specificities of each neighborhood in Tokyo)
@David I don't drive, but I think there may be roads that are not on regular driving routes; and most people coming to Shinjuku do so by train, as that's what it's designed for. Shinjuku Station, right near this scene, is served by a dozen train and subway lines. Not sure what that same camera would show on weekdays, though
@WataruTenkawa_1 @David it's pretty taxi-heavy at any time of day (source: I regularly cross that road). It sits between Kabukicho and the commercial district on the west side of the station. Lots of commercial delivery traffic during the day. I guess there's a good chance any private vehicles will be heading to Isetan or Takashimaya or one of the other commercial establishments with carparks.
@cluelesstoshika @WataruTenkawa_1 Thanks to both of you.
