I was drafting a post last night about how the Supreme Court's dismantling of the Voting Rights Act was the beginning of another phase with what the GOP did to Memphis as an example, and today I find that they just did the same thing in my state.
This tells me 2 things:
1) as pissed off as I am that they just nullified the special election, if voting didn't matter, they wouldn't need to rig it
2) voting is not *enough*, we need sustained direct action, starting from the community level.
Fascism is incompatible with democracy.
Because most people don't want fascism, and democracy is "Government by what most people want."
The closest facsimile possible, is "Misrepresentative Democracy" where people vote for representatives, but the victims of fascism have less power to choose them.
