I recently learned that press-on nails are making a comeback and I found a set on sale and thought it would be fun to experiment with so I bought the shortest set possible and still found myself trimming them down because it "felt weird" so here is a picture of my press-on nails that look like little stumps.
Post
@Alice I like my nails to look nice and also detest the feeling of long nails. Curious to hear how they hold up.
@Alice Right there with ya. Can't abide the feel of long nails and the awkwardness of trying to use my fingers multiplies the frustration.
Might try cut-down press-ons like yours though. See if I can bear the thick and stiff feel on my nails.
@springdiesel Yeah! I feel like if I were to do it again, I'd cut them down BEFORE putting them on. I just didn't know I was going to hate "long" nails as much as I did before they were already stuck on.
@WrenArcher really seems to have mastered her craft!
What I really want is something that's just the polish part that sticks on. Like something a little more rigid than a sticker, but not nearly as rigid as a fake nail.
Oh yeah that would be great! Like decals or veneers or something. That would feel way better.
@Alice
Yay! Welcome to the club!
Believe it or not, I actually make my own. I use "blanks" then cut, trim, file and paint. I use little double sided sticky to keep them in place.
First photo shows my sticky tabs and the second is showing off my latest set using OPI Princesses Rule.
And having long nails... gah! I don't know how people do it. @Wallflower has her (homegrown, natural) nails long and when I showed her these I was complaining to her not understanding how she does anything with them this long.
@WrenArcher @Wallflower Oh wait this is so smart! I wouldn't suck at painting nails nearly as much if they weren't attached to my fingers while I was trying to do it!
@Alice Gotta say, I like fancy colors, patterns & textures more on short nails than long ones 🤩 I mean, if the fashion statement of long nails is "look at me, I don't need to use my hands for manual labor", then the statement of short, fancy nails could be interpreted as "my hands work as actual hands but I also like decking out in cool colors & stuff" & that would handily explain my aforementioned preference 😁
One thing I will say is that I do like painting my nails every now and again but I’m very bad at it so this was an easy way to get a clean "polish" job on my own.
But overall I do not enjoy the feeling of a second set of "nails" on my nails and I won’t be sad when these things start flying off like shrapnel.
fake nails make my skin crawl. I do not like things touching/adhered to my nails or teeth.
@Alice
The ease with which you can go from nail polish to shrapnel in a single post, Alice,is one of the things I love about your prose.
