I guess the GitHub front-end is just… garbage now? Like I knew it was having issues as the org has dwindled under Microsoft and their Copilot obsession, but hoo-boy this has become one of the most unreliable services I use.
I filed half a dozen issues on a tiny repo last night, and the app and website both just showed that no issues existed on the repo for a few *hours* afterwards. Their status site showed an ongoing incident, so I went to bed.
Today the status site is all green, but filing an issue still takes *several minutes* to show up on the issue tracker. It has been instant for… over a decade? But somehow now that’s just flaky.
Maybe this is the kick I needed to finally explore alternatives more seriously. Codeberg is looking good to me right about now.
@cassidy codeberg is good. I found it has had some downtime more frequently than I wished but now it's not like it's somehow worse than github 😅
@cassidy I love codeberg and forgejo but I think what they are missing for me is the "social" aspect of it where I can see repos that interest me in an explore tab. I know federation is in the works and when that hits and if the ux is mostly there it will not only be there for me it will be better than github ever was for me.
