Instead of politicians can't we just have an app?

I'm actually in favour of something along the lines of what you suggest, and personally think it would generate far better, fairer outcomes that our current representative democracy.
We all have smart phones or tablets now, so why not dispense with politicians and vote directly on policy?

@TheBreadmonkey ok hear me out. Fit politicians with shock collars. If enough people press the button on the app at the same time, they get electrocuted.
