ugh spammers have found my sizzle free trial form - I was hoping I could avoid having a captcha or similar, but it seems impossible now

@decryption A captcha doesn't actually work. They're human beings who find your form, and punch details in. They'll even confirm the email saying "do you want to subscribe". And then, they'll reply to every newsletter you send, with something like "hey, sounds good, I'm working on it". Apparently they're warming up their email addresses for something.
One quick method, currently, to stop them is to block all traffic to your website (or your sign-up form) from Morocco. That's where most of them are.
Quite proud of my "invisible captcha until you need it" on podnews.net front page.
@james they never click the confirmation link, so the emails are removed from my database 24hrs later - which makes it even bizarre
i have no idea what they're trying to achieve by sending "do you want to get the sizzle" emails that are then removed from the list when they don't confirm the subscription??
@decryption extortion? Nice form you’ve got there, be a shame if it got shitcanned as spam by everyone
