Cartesian dualism. ML hype train. Lack of embodiment. The dangers of anthropomorphizing the algorithm. Even her fellow Aussie @gregeganSF called out symbolics explicitly in his novel "Diaspora". I got the same freaky vibes reading Michael Padlipsky in my own research field.
