Hard agree. Any definition of “planet” that doesn’t include things like Ganymede and Earth’s moon is dumb. Pluto should be a planet. So should a dozen other things not currently listed.
On the other hand, having one word which covers big balls of gas, small balls of rock, and smaller balls of ice without distinction is dumb.
The science case for why Pluto should become a planet (again)
The current IAU definition of planet is now 20 years old, and in that time, we've learned a whole lot more about moons and dwarf planets.
