Have you intentionally included typos in your work?
Last week, I talked with Reader's Digest about whether typos are — get this — the new status symbol. 😱
I'd heard of people doing it to "prove" they aren't AI (which I think is a bad idea), but I hadn't heard of the new "status symbol" idea. It's wild!
@grammargirl Not typos, but there have been one or maybe two occasions in recent memory where I didn't rewrite a sentence that I thought could be worded better, but I didn't want to appear to have used an LLM.
Interesting to see that some would deliberately make their writing worse though, I'm definitely not there yet.
@stefan I'm starting to struggle when I write something I know people associate with AI, like a three-part list. I'll go back and forth on whether to rewrite it.
Part of me feels belligerently opposed and another part feels like it would probably be smart.
I'm keeping my em dashes! The clankers can pull them from my cold dead hands!
@rossm Yes, I love em dashes!
I do think I use them a lot less nowadays, sadly. But I've always used --, and after they became a big AI tell, I went out of my way to turn them back into -- when eg. Outlook "autocorrected" them.
