ttar: tyranitar, a dark/rock pokemon like you mentioned
sand stream: ttar's (signature? most famous at least) ability, creates a sandstorm, that increases the special defense or rock pokemon by 50%
Assault vest: an item that increases your special defense by 50% but you can't use moves that don't deal damage
"takes like 15% from" it's short for "the damage that the move deals is roughly 15% of the maximum HP of the pokemon"
STAB: Same Type Attack Bonus, a 50% increase in power if the move a pokemon is using is the same type as one of the pokemon's type (like starmie using hydro pump on ttar)
Hydro pump: very strong water type attack, but quite inaccurate
crunch: somewhat strong dark type attack with perfect accyracy
@meluzzy in this case she was fighting an onix so she was better off in every way
