One of the team leads at work, who doesn’t bother to support my efforts to improve things, once told me that he was on a contract that had documentation and testing and many of the things we neglect as conditions. He said it was great. Features went in on time; onboarding was shorter, etc. Then he said that he wouldn’t support us doing it without a contractual obligation—even though it was inarguably better. Eyes wide open just choosing to do a bad job and suffer for it.
