Delighted to report that Amazon has abandoned its plans to build a datacenter here.
The "lease-and-equip" model they're switching to is a lot easier to get rid of, when we eventually kick these digital imperialists out altogether.
I'll raise a sovereign glass of fresh water to that.
Meanwhile in Hillsboro, Oregon, the city newsletter answered some helpful questions that are totally ones we are asking such as:
What is a data center?
Why do we need them?
How many data centers are in Hillsboro?
Do data centers pay property taxes?
@cy Ah yes, the old trick of warming the public up to something they probably don't want by answering questions they didn't ask. That "above board" feeling.
