@ai6yr Oh noooo is this where @Brad_Rosenheim's lab is?? Watching all the science funding in the US get strangled off is bad enough, but literal fires in labs as well?

Yes, it is. I haven't posted about it because it is still too raw. Decades of samples and home-built instrumentation up in flames, and/drowned in the water used to put out the flames. I don't know how we will come back from this, but time will tell. I am absolutely beside myself right now. We all are. The silver lining was that it happened on a Saturday evening, as the semester was coming to an end, so no one was hurt and the few people who were there were evacuated safely. I know of two graduate students who had to abandon cars in the parking lot because the flames spread so quickly.
