Post
@TheBreadmonkey
I would but I sold all my flying monkeys to this weird witch person.
I find it amusing that every time I come to people's notice I get new likes on my pinned posts. Plus I almost always re-read them when they show up in my notifications 😊
My intro, the story of my wedding, my advice for relationships post, flying my geek flag, and my love for HRT... it's an odd mix, but a pretty good intro into me.
@TheBreadmonkey I didn't. Maybe I'll try it...
@TheBreadmonkey I do, but most folk don't have them.
@TheBreadmonkey I look at them when deciding whether or not to follow someone - the top of their feed might not be representative of what they normally post, but the pinned posts tell me what they think is important or good
@TheBreadmonkey I do read other’s pinned posts. It’s a fun way to glimpse into the psyche I guess. Currently I have only one - introduction. I don’t even which of my posts got significant traction. Should I pin them??
I don't know tbh and changed my introduction for a high engagement earlier today but I think I might change it back.
those are some high quality toots.

it is being a pain about me reboosting them.
422: reblog of post already exists.
The error "422: reblog of post already exists" typically occurs on blogging platforms like Tumblr when attempting to reblog a post that you have already reblogged previously. This is a, "Unprocessable Entity" error, indicating that the server understands the request but cannot process it because the action has already been performed.
bollocks.
i lost my only +1K toot when med-mastodon died.
i tried reposting it here but it didn't take off.
Love you, Paul. For what it's worth, my post with zero boosts that simply said 'Steamboat penis' was the one I always laugh most about.
@TheBreadmonkey @amiserabilist @farah hey I boosted your penis, and on the Lord's day too
@internetsdairy @TheBreadmonkey @farah
blasphemously boosting ben's big boner.
we have been consigned to hell.
again...
fuck a duck .
@amiserabilist @internetsdairy @TheBreadmonkey Why do I always get picked by the group going to hell
@farah @amiserabilist @internetsdairy @TheBreadmonkey
Hel is where the parties are & the best noise & interesting people. 😎
@TheBreadmonkey according to FediTips, pinned posts federate more quickly and easily than regular ones, because they are attached to the profile. When we look at a profile that hasn’t federated with your server yet, it looks like that person has no posts. So we have a harder time sussing whether to engage with them (and vice versa). So having pinned posts can help other people decide to follow you or talk with you.
@TheBreadmonkey I have a pinned post for when folk think, "Who the fuck is this random stranger who has decided to enter into our conversation that we seem to have forgotten we were having in public?" It's just a long form of what's in my bio anyway. I look for pinned posts when deciding whether to follow someone. I like to see there's a person with their own unique thoughts, not just page after page of boosts and memes.
@TheBreadmonkey
In the last few days someone shared a two-year pinned post of mine (from an alt account), and that post got re-shared and liked quite a bit more.
Made me double check what I'd written in it. 😬
@TheBreadmonkey I look at them when I check out someone's profile. Don't think I have one myself though. Or ever wrote an intro post, come to think of it. And I don't boost myself, ever. I kick my toots out of the nest to live or die as Nature wills.
I've never even written a toot
I'll suss out someone's page before I follow them. If there's a cool pinned post or five, I'll boost 'em.
Mine could use freshening...I try to offer an assortment of silliness, so nobody gets the wrong impression and follows me for my wisdom and good looks 📌
@TheBreadmonkey I only ever look if I see a post that seems dodgy. Then I go to the profile and nose around. So, a pinned post is sort of an extended profile I'd say.
@TheBreadmonkey I use faves to acknowledge I’ve seen something. I boost because I hope others have a chance to enjoy what I value, usually humorous post, photos or other visual posts. try to be generous. People can and will scroll by, but if no one shares their enthusiasm good stuff sinks in the Fedistream.
Here endeth Thought for the Day.
@TheBreadmonkey I definitely do now and then, but really ought to do it more. I've just boosted my own toot for the first time ever 🙂
Hooray! One of us! One of us! I love your pinned posts very much btw.
@TheBreadmonkey
Yes, sometimes I look at the timeline and the pinned posts.
@TheBreadmonkey I try to look at others pinned messages. My own posts are favourite/most boosted photos. I hesitate to boost them and other overlooked pics, but because they’re often tooted when half the world is asleep perhaps it’s worth giving them another go.
@TheBreadmonkey thanks for the boosts, Ben.
I don't go out of my way to read pinned posts, but if I am looking at someone's profile, yes, I will read them.
I'll also read them if I am looking to follow someone and I notice that, in their bio, they ask people to read their pinned posts first, since these are usually setting out boundaries.
@neil @TheBreadmonkey yeah, pretty much the same
@TheBreadmonkey I have and read pinned posts...
@TheBreadmonkey Moshidon has pinned posts in a separate tab rather than pinned to the top of someone's main toots so I forget they are a thing too. But yeah, go obtuse!
That's what she said!
