Consider this literally. Many rejoice when fascists are incompetent and devoid of knowledge or skill, and hope that fascists/fascism will self-destruct. This is a false hope.

So long as antifascists fail to take meaningful action and exploit opportunities, fascists without opposition can screw up constantly with no consequences, or only to be replaced with something worse.

Ponder the ancestor to this saying, the actual words of Edmund Burke in 1770 instead of the misquote:

> When bad men combine, the good must associate; else they will fall, one by one, an unpitied sacrifice in a contemptible struggle.

Interesting how the modern saying neglects the importance of organizing in effective resistance, and can be interpreted to encourage individual "heroism", which is not a sustainable approach.

It takes a movement to make the most of fascists' mistakes.
