If you’ve ever lived in a small town you may be familiar with there being places old men gather in the morning to have their coffee and swap the shit. My great uncle was a core member of one such group in Somerset, Kentucky. This sign hung over what everyone called the Liars’ Table at first the Cherokee Restaurant and then Dixie’s Restaurant. Yes, I know neither name is all that great, but it’s Kentucky in the 80’s and 90’s (and even today TBH). Anyway, when Dixie’s closed he was bequeathed the sign. I didn’t even know my Dad (now long dead) had this and I’m sad to have found it languishing in the garage among the detritus, but now I have a cool piece of local and family history so win for me.
